Sgian Dubh for the Commanding Officer of The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland
This Sgian Dubh was commissioned for a presentation to the Commanding Officer of The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
It has an RSS badge inlaid into an African Blackwood handle carved in the regimental style with added brass pins and ferrules. The top ferrule holds a beautiful pommel stone cut by Nat Forno from a pebble found by Black Watch soldiers on the beach at their regimental headquarters at Fort George.
We engraved the blade on both sides with inscriptions detailing the presentation and embossed the sheath with the CO’s initials. Continue reading

Supphellebreen Glacier Pommel Stone

On my recent trip to Norway I picked up a stone from the base of the Supphellebreen Glacier which has made a beautiful pommel stone for an upcoming Sgian Dubh commission. (click the images for larger photos)

The DeGrussa Sgian Dubh

I completed Terry DeGrussa’s Sgian Dubh in time for his birthday, this has been a rather special commission featuring his family coat of arms engraved onto a silver plate set in an ebony handle, his name set into the sheath and topped off with a Fife Red Jasper pommel stone :

Here are Terry’s comments upon receiving his Sgian Dubh;
“…I was really pleased with it. I can’t stop looking at it. It has been a pleasure for me as well dealing with you both during the process of getting everything right for the final item. I am over the moon with the Sgian Dubh it surpasses the expectation I had at the start.
