Pictish Pendants Wedding Gifts in Titanium and Amethyst

We were commissioned by Isabel to design and create these unique pendants as wedding presents for Morag and Robyn whose pair of Pictish wedding rings we recently made.
The pendant design complements the rings and is engraved into Titanium, then set with beautiful Tayside Amethyst which was cut and polished for us by Scottish Gemstones. We developed the hues of the titanium to harmonise with the colours of the Amethyst.

Pictish Boar Titanium Pendant with Tayside Amethyst
Alex commissioned us to design and create a special pendant for his wife, Morna’s birthday.
We engraved six Pictish Boars into Titanium and heated it until the metal took on a blue/purple hue to complement the Tayside Amethyst stone set into the centre, while the back of the pendant was diamond-engraved with a personal message.
“…absolutely stunning! Couldn’t have asked for any better or more. Really beautiful, she’ll love it… Love the way it shimmers differently in different light…, Alex” Continue reading
Pictish Beastie Kilt Pin in Sterling Silver
We made this bespoke Pictish kilt pin with what is commonly known as the ‘Beastie’ design.
There is much speculation on whether the Beastie is a real animal such as an elephant, dolphin or seahorse or whether it is a mythological creature such as a kelpie, dragon or even the Loch Ness Monster….
“the pin arrived today! Absolutely stunning – such a beautiful thing! I am so thoroughly pleased. Such craftsmanship! terrific!!!” R.M, Edinburgh. Continue reading
Pictish Horse Sgian Dubh, Box and Damascus Kilt Pins
This was a special commission of a Sgian Dubh, presentation box and set of Damascus kilt pins for a forthcoming wedding.The Sgian Dubh handle and sheath are made from 5300 year old bog oak. We made the Pictish horse inlays and the ferrules and pins from Sterling Silver. Karl Peet at Bespoke Craft made the box for us to add the inlay. The kilt pins were specially made as a matching set by Stu from offcuts from our Damascus blade steel. Continue reading

Sgian Brew in Bog Oak and Sterling Silver Engraved with Pictish Wolves
I made this Sgian Brew as a special commission with a carved Bog Oak handle and a Sterling Silver ferrule band engraved with Pictish wolves. It’s owner sent me the following;
“Hi Rab, I just received your Sgian Brew. It’s the second I’ve had and your workmanship just gets better and better. This one is going on a hook on my bar so that it can’t wander during a party. No more hunt the bottle opener. It has already been much admired… perhaps it should have a chain and lock on it rather than a leather string. Thanks again for a beautifully made piece of art.” Continue reading
Pictish Wedding Ring in Titanium With Ogham Inscription

A Pictish Inspired Sgian Dubh
Here’s a Sgian Dubh commission with a distinct Pictish flavour.
The Sterling Silver plate inlaid into the smooth, wax-polished bog oak handle is engraved with a Z-rod and double disk design inspired by an item found in the Norrie’s Law hoard. The lower ferrule band is engraved with the Ardross Wolf, the broken carved stone which we based this design on is currently in Inverness Museum.
The blade is Damascus, diamond-engraved with initials and the pommel stone is Jade. Continue reading
Pictish Wolves Engraved Sgian Dubh
Here’s a recent commission featuring the engraving of a pair a Pictish Wolves and the letter ‘S’ upon a Damascus blade. It’s very hard to photograph the diamond point engraving – it’s clear when it catches the light but otherwise doesn’t detract from the natural blade pattern so we have to angle the blade just right to catch it. The wolf design is recreated from a broken carved Pictish stone currently at Inverness Museum but originally from Ardross.
We were emailed the following quote;
“Stunning sgian dubh! Rab worked with me to get exactly what I needed and the custom engraving is amazing.” Continue reading
The Wolf and the Unicorn ~ Titanium Wedding Rings
I made this pair of custom wedding rings last week featuring a Pictish wolf and a unicorn to the couple’s design, the smaller ring was flame-anodized by the bride-to-be, and the highlights were then buffed clear. Continue reading
