Bespoke Wedding Bands & Sgian Dubh with Columbine, Yorkshire Rose and Whitby Jet
We were asked if we would create a special pair of bespoke wedding rings featuring a unique combination of elements for Adam and Cynthia. Working with the couple to develop their design ideas we made Cynthia’s ring in Platinum and Adam’s in Titanium along with a custom bog oak Sgian Dubh for Adam. These are best described in their own words;
“The rings feature a Rocky Mountain Columbine for the birthplace of the bride, the Yorkshire Rose for the birthplace of the groom and a Celtic knot representing Scotland, where we met and fell in love. The Sgian Dubh is for the groom, and is a beautiful blend of Scotland and Yorkshire – including a piece of Whitby Jet (from W.Hammond / @W_Hammond in North Yorkshire).”

We carved the Sgian Dubh handle and sheath from 4200 year old Culloden Bog Oak which is fitted with Sterling Silver ferrules and a Whitby Jet pommel stone. The lower ferrule band is engraved with the Yorkshire Rose and the blade was crafted for us by Scottish bladesmith Chris Grant from High Carbon Stainless Damascus.
Cynthia and Adam kindly emailed us after their wedding;
“We are thrilled with the Sgian Dubh and rings that Rab has made us for our wedding. They are exquisite in their detail and are so personal for us! We can’t thank you enough!” Continue reading
