Yew, Amethyst and RWL34 Swedish Steel Sgian Dubh Set

Yew and Amethyst Sgian Dubh Set
We made this very special set of Sgian Dubhs for a recent wedding. The groom supplied some Scottish Yew which he had felled himself, we used this for the handles and topped them with a pair of Tayside Amethyst pommel stones. The blades are made from a bar of RWL34 steel imported from Sweden and ground and heat treated in Sheffield. We embossed the sheaths with the family names and engraved the blades and some brass plates with personal inscriptions in English and Polish. The brass plates were then mounted on a pair of boxes made from the left over yew by Karl at Bespoke Craft who lined the boxes with some Flower of Scotland tartan.
