A weekend on Lewis

Just had a great weekend staying with friends on the Isle of Lewis, the photo above is of Cliff Beach on the West Side. Max found a lovely stone for the Sgian Dubh Pommels a little further on from here, I’ll post a photo when it’s cut and polished.
Very relaxing and good company, we also got a chance to see the Lewis Chess Men during their loan to Museum nan Eilean, in Stornoway which will probably influence an upcoming Viking styled Sgian Dubh commission. Continue reading →

“Just a message to let you know I received the sgian dubh yesterday. I’m chuffed to bits with the result. I think leaving the blade plain was the right decision, the finish on the Damascus steel looks amazing. I’m was also pleasantly surprised by just how nice the sheath is, I had expected it to be thinner. It has a very substantial qualitative feel to it.
